Hyundai Construction Equipment is a technological leader in the global construction equipment market. But HCE is also a leader in conducting ESG activities for a sustainable future. The company is engaged in activities creating a carbon-neutral world and is contributing to the communities in its home country and abroad. ESG Activities from HCE India

As a global corporation, Hyundai Construction Equipment is fulfilling its responsibility to society by conducting various social contribution activities in many countries. As an example, HCE India is improving the local education environment, providing medical assistance, and reducing carbon emissions in the country. Creating a mutual relationship with the local communities, HCE India is an exemplary case for global ESG activities.

HCE India has been operating “Hyundai Modern School” since 2020, repairing/enhancing local school facilities and providing educational experiences and opportunities. In May, the company conducted an education environment improvement program in which HCE India turned a barren land within the premise of Golegaon Village School into a school playground using an HX220HD manufactured by the company. In February, HCE India held a Science Park Tour in which the company invited local students to learn about engineering, new technologies, and astrophysics. In the tour program, the students also watched a 3D show and tried various scientific instruments.

HCE India provides medical assistance to the local community as well. The company repaired a used ambulance and provided the vehicle to Sukalwehge village with a poor medical environment. Furthermore, HCE India plans to introduce a solar panel system in the company next year, allowing every electricity used in the company to be eco-friendly. The plan is expected to facilitate the company’s goal to turn into a greener corporation and to create an ESG-centered culture within the company. These ESG efforts from HCE India were recognized by excellent evaluation results from three major ISO certifications.

Company-Community Sisterhood Relationship: Giving Hands to the Community

HCE’s ESG activities continue in Korea through creating a mutual relationship with the local community. In July 22^nd, the company signed a partnership with its sister community Daejang 1-ri Handeul village to promote consumption of local agricultural goods. HCE aims to consume primarily the produce from Daejang 1-ri and help cultivate and supply healthy food that is assuring to eat.

Four days after the partnership, HCE purchased 1,820 boxes of peaches (5.5 million KRW worth) produced in Daejang 1-ri, marking a great beginning of the partnership. Oh Sejoong, the head of Handeul village, commented on the purchase that he “sends a sincere gratitude to Hyundai Construction Equipment for purchasing peaches we grew.” HCE plans to continue purchasing local agricultural goods and conduct clean-up events throughout the country and volunteer work in rural areas.

Even before ESG became a trend in business management, Hyundai Construction Equipment has been conducting various social contribution activities based on the company’s philosophy of contributing to the development of the country and the local communities.
